The cost of fuel is high and we are all looking
for ways to cut costs at the pump. Here are a few highly recommended things that anyone can do:
1. Plan your trips to include several errands. Children expect us to run them around like
a taxi. Before you jump in your car think about what other errands you can accomplish while you are out.
2. Walk if you can. I have a convenience store a few blocks from my house. A year
ago it was nothing to hop in my car and run grab a gallon of milk. Now I walk my dog there. We get a
little exercise as a bonus and she can use it.
3. Use the factory recommended grade of gasoline. If you choose to use a lower grade of
fuel it won't burn properly and over a period of time it can internally damage the engine.
4. Turn off unnecessary accessories. Air conditioning and even the rear defrost can add
stress to the vehicle. The more power required the more fuel is necessary for it to operate.
5. Check your tire pressure. Improper inflation can cause additional friction from the
road. Although it is a small amount, over time the fuel consumption can add up.
6. Make sure to have your vehicle serviced on time. If the viscosity of the oil is too
low, or the level is too low, the engine can suffer from overheating or internal damage. Also, have your service provider
check the air filter and spark plugs for wear. These can result in a misfire and unburned fuel. We offer a $39.99
Fuel Conservation Maintenance Package which is designed to diagnose fuel system faults and weaknesses. Check out our
money savers page to see what we have to offer.
